The flat peach, a very refreshing and fleshy fruit with nutritional properties beneficial to your health that will surprise you.

The paraguayo or paraguaya (Prunus persica var. platycarpa) is a fruit of the species of the genus prunus like the peach.

It is also very similar in shape to the peach, but with a more flattened shape, although its taste is somewhat sweeter and less acidic. It also has a delicious refreshing and juicy taste. Its velvety peach-like skin has reddish and greenish tones. It is also somewhat thinner. It has a small bone inside.

In Spain we can enjoy these delicious fruits from May to August, saying goodbye with the end of summer. Like their direct cousins, the peach and the nectarine, they are summer fruits.

It is therefore advisable to wait a few days before eating them in order to enjoy their more delicious flavour. Our paraguayans retain all their natural flavour as they are not subjected to cold storage.

We pack the Paraguayans in plastic tubs to protect them from damage during transport and to prevent them from spoiling when they come into contact with other fruit and vegetables. We strive to offer the highest quality to our customers, guaranteeing that all our fruit arrives in optimum condition and with its freshness intact.

How to preserve Paraguayans

To preserve the umbrellas and maintain their freshness for longer, let them ripen at room temperature. Once ripe, store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep them separate from other fruits to avoid damage and over-ripening. Placing them in a ventilated container or paper bag will help prevent moisture build-up, allowing them to stay fresh and delicious for longer.

How to eat Paraguayans

For maximum enjoyment, make sure they are ripe before eating. Wash them well and then simply eat them as they are, as a delicious refreshing snack.
