In our orchard you can buy these delicious Ettinger avocados between October and November. They are similar to Fuerte avocados, pear-shaped with smooth, thin, bright green skin and yellowish flesh. It has a milder flavour and is very tender. It is fruitier, less creamy and slightly sweeter than other avocado varieties such as Fuerte and Hass.
Ettinger avocado’s characteristics
This variety of avocado has a lower oil content than the others. Its inner flesh, like almost all other avocados, contains a large seed (stone) and a cavity, which constitutes 10-25% of the fruit’s weight. Their average weight is around 300 grams and they are usually harvested when their fat content reaches 9%. They are widely used to make smoothies or avocado butter. Also for spreading directly on toast.
Our Ettinger avocado crops
The avocado is harvested between November and December. At La Huerta de Pancha we take great care of our Ettinger avocado plantations every single month of their development, so that the final result is exquisite. The Ettinger avocado from Axarquia is more resistant to cold and wind.
Ettinger avocados are harvested by hand, in the traditional way, so that the result is the best and most natural for consumption.
Ettinger avocado’s properties
Avocados in general contain around twenty essential nutrients, including fibre, potassium, vitamin E, B vitamins and folic acid. They also act as a “nutrient assimilation booster” by allowing the body to absorb more of the fat-soluble nutrients, such as beta-carotene and lutein, in foods consumed along with it.
