How you will receive the plums from Huerta de Pancha

Our plums are harvested at their optimum point. This point, in the case of plums, does not coincide with the point of ripening. In other words, they have to wait a few days before they can be eaten. These plums keep all their natural flavour as they do not go through cold storage.

The plums are packed in plastic tubs to prevent them from spoiling when in contact with other fruit and vegetables and to avoid damage during transport. We always strive for quality for the customer and that all our fruit arrives in the best condition and with the highest quality.

How to preserve plums

Plums can be stored in the pantry for 2 to 3 days, as well as in the refrigerator for about 3 to 5 days without any loss of quality.

For the long term, it is possible to freeze plums for up to 12 months, or dehydrate them for up to 18 months.

If you decide to store the plums in the pantry or on the counter, it is important to place them in a cool place away from sunlight. You can store the plums in a plastic bag, however, do not seal them, but keep the plastic bag open to allow the fruit to breathe.

How to eat plums

Plums are one of the most appetising fruits during the hot summer months due to their excellent quality, aroma and refreshing taste, which relieves thirst in a natural, nutritious and healthy way. They can be eaten at any time of the day, either peeled or with skin. Since they are usually eaten unpeeled, we recommend that you wash them well beforehand. They can be eaten on their own or as an ingredient in salads, fruit salads, cocktails, jams, pastries, sorbets, ice creams… Note that all dark plums (and some lighter varieties) have bitter skins that can be used to prepare jams, marmalades and jellies. They can also be used to prepare delicious sweet and sour sauces to accompany meats and pancakes.
